Bogotá began when Gonzalo Jimenez de Quesada conquered Bacatá, who was the capital of tge Chibcha indians. The name was Santa Fé de Bacatá, but the name changed thanks to the spanish settlers who created a new colony, who was Nueva Granada, and they changed the name 'Bacatá' for the name 'Bogotá' who was the capital.
