Soon in Bogotá

We hope to have a Green Day.
concert someday here in Bogotá

Is an American rock trio formed in 1987. The band has consisted of lead vocalist and guitarist Billie Joe Armstrong, bassist and backing vocalist Mike Dirnt, and drummer Tré Cool for the majority of its existence. The band is credited as one of the two main bands, along with The Offspring, who put the punk revival into process, though they have been described as a "sell out" band by notable members of the punk rock community.

Green Day was originally part of the punk scene at 924 Gilman Street in Berkeley, California. The band's early releases forindependent record label Lookout! Records earned it a grassroots fanbase, some of whom felt alienated when the band signed to a major label. Nevertheless, its major label debut Dookie (1994) became a breakout success and eventually sold over 10 million copies in the U.S. and 15 million worldwide. As a result, Green Day was widely credited, alongside fellow California punk bandsThe Offspring and Rancid, with reviving mainstream interest in and popularizing punk rock in the United States.Green Day's three follow-up albums, Insomniac, Nimrod and Warning did not achieve the massive success of Dookie, but they were still successful, reaching double platinum, double platinum, and gold status respectively.Green Day's 2004 rock opera American Idiot reignited the band's popularity with a younger generation, selling five million copies in the U.S. The band's eighth studio album, 21st Century Breakdown, was released on May 15, 2009.

Coldplay
Chris Martin and Jonny Buckland first met during their orientation week at University College London in September 1996. The pair spent the rest of the university year planning a band, ultimately forming a group called Pectoralz.Guy Berryman, a classmate of Martin and Buckland, later joined the group. By 1997, the group, who had renamed themselves Starfish, performed gigs for local Camden promoters at small clubs.Martin also had recruited his longtime school friend Phil Harvey, who was studyingclassics at Oxford, to be the band's manager.Coldplay have since accepted Harvey as the fifth member of the group. The band's lineup was completed when Will Champion joined to take up percussion duties. Champion had grown up playing piano, guitar, bass, and tin whistle; he quickly learned the drums, despite having no previous experience. The band finally settled on the name "Coldplay" which was suggested by Tim Crompton, a local student who had been using the name for his group. By 1997, Martin had also met then Classics student Tim Rice-Oxley. During a weekend on Virginia Water, they asked each other to play off their own songs on the piano. Martin, finding Rice-Oxley to be talented, asked him to be Coldplay's keyboard player but Rice-Oxley refused as his own band was already operational. Days after, this event would shape the second line-up of Keane and keep Coldplay's unaltered, thus leaving both bands as quartets.

To visit!!!

Cerro (or mountain) de Monserrate is of great importance for Bogotá. The white church built on the summit of a mountain 3,200 meters high dominates the cityscape. Pilgrims, devoted to the Señor Caído (a statue of Christ inside the church), visit to pay their dues for the idol's generosity. The mountaintop offers the best panoramic view of Bogotá. There is also a handicrafts market, good cafes and a couple of excellent restaurants with both traditional and international menus, which stay open until midnight. You can get to the top by funicular or by cable car!!!!! SO DAMNED COOL! You must go.

There is a very good view of the city from the top of Monserrate (3210 m), the lower of the two peaks rising sharply to the east. It is reached by a funicular railway and a cable car. The new convent at the top is a popular shrine and pilgrimage site. At the summit, near the church, a platform gives a bird’s-eye view of the city’s tiled roofs and of the plains beyond stretching to the rim of the Sabana. Sunrise and sunset can be spectacular. The Calle del Candelero, a reconstruction of a Bogotá street of 1887, has plenty of street stalls and snack bars. Behind the church are popular picnic grounds. There are two upmarket touristy restaurants at the top, both overpriced and closed Sunday. If you wish to walk up, possibly the safest time is at the weekend about 0500, before the crowds arrive but when there are people about. At this time you will catch the sunrise. The path is dressed stone and comfortably graded all the way up with refreshment stalls at weekends every few metres. It takes about one and a quarter hours up (if you don’t stop)

Traveling??

Hey... this is for people that want to travel abroad...or Colombia!. If you are going to travel you need to know how to recognize a fake bill. here are some steps: (it works with mostly all kind of money!)
1. Pay atention to the paper. the print is calcography, it means that it leave a relief easily to recognize if you touch it. if the bill is completely smooth, surely the bill is fake.
2. Take a look to the colors . in a real bill lighted colors are combined with dark ones in hard contrast. while in fake ones the colors are all pale.
3. Verify the marks. there are three single marks that distinguish the real bills from fake ones. first one, recognize the silver-plate filament that are in the front of the bill and if they are seen under a mgnifier, they seem to be a line. second, the brown fiber or strings that are added to the original paper of the bill, and fake bills doesnt have them. third, the watter mark that produce a differnce of thickness in the paper and in the backlight it led to see an image.
and this are the three steps for you to know if the bills you have got for traveling are fake or not.

Legends!

La leyenda del Dorado...

The Dorado's legend tell us what happened to Muiscans gold when Sapnish came here! Read it!!
It's very interesting!

The original narrative is to be found in the rambling chronicle, El Carnero, of Juan Rodriguez Freyle. According to Freyle, the king or chief priest of the Muisca was said to be ritually covered with gold dust at a religious festival held in Lake Guatavita, near present-day Bogotá.

In 1638 Juan Rodriguez Troxell wrote this account, addressed to the cacique or governor of Guatavita:

The ceremony took place on the appointment of a new ruler. Before taking office, he spent some time secluded in a cave, without women, forbidden to eat salt, or to go out during daylight. The first journey he had to make was to go to the great lagoon of Guatavita, to make offerings and sacrifices to the demon which they worshipped as their god and lord. During the ceremony which took place at the lagoon, they made a raft of rushes, embellishing and decorating it with the most attractive things they had. They put on it four lighted braziers in which they burned much moque, which is the incense of these natives, and also resin and many other perfumes. The lagoon was large and deep, so that a ship with high sides could sail on it, all loaded with an infinity of men and women dressed in fine plumes, golden plaques and crowns.... As soon as those on the raft began to burn incense, they also lit braziers on the shore, so that the smoke hid the light of day. At this time they stripped the heir to his skin, and anointed him with a sticky earth on which they placed gold dust so that he was completely covered with this metal. They placed him on the raft ... and at his feet they placed a great heap of gold and emeralds for him to offer to his god. In the raft with him went four principal subject chiefs, decked in plumes, crowns, bracelets, pendants and ear rings all of gold. They, too, were naked, and each one carried his offering .... when the raft reached the centre of the lagoon, they raised a banner as a signal for silence. The gilded Indian then ... [threw] out all the pile of gold into the middle of the lake, and the chiefs who had accompanied him did the same on their own accounts. ... After this they lowered the flag, which had remained up during the whole time of offering, and, as the raft moved towards the shore, the shouting began again, with pipes, flutes, and large teams of singers and dancers. With this ceremony the new ruler was received, and was recognized as lord and king.

The Muisca towns and their treasures quickly fell to the conquistadores. Taking stock of their newly won territory, the Spaniards realized that — in spite of the quantity of gold in the hands of the Indians — there were no golden cities, nor even rich mines, since the Muiscas obtained all their gold in trade. But at the same time, the Spanish began to hear stories of El Dorado from captured Indians, and of the rites which used to take place at the lagoon of Guatavita.

Talking about...politicssss!

Clara Rojas was submitted to congressional elections in 2010

He was kidnapped since 2002, when Ingrid Betancourt was accompanied on his presidential campaign.

Dr. Clara Rojas, who is on the verge of turning two of his reunion with freedom, he decided to run the Senate for the Liberal Party, "said a statement sent on Monday by his press office.

By midday Tuesday, recorded his candidacy for the elections to be held in March next year and give a press conference in explaining the reasons which led to an opposition party submitted to the government of Alvaro Uribe, the statement said .

The kidnapping of Rojas by guerrillas from the FARC came on 23 February 2002. After having a son in captivity and away from Betancourt, was released by January 2008, along with former MP Consuelo Gonzalez, who also ran for parliamentary elections next year.

The FARC handed over to delegates of the government of Venezuela and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).

But...Who The ... Is Clara Rojas???
Clara Leticia Rojas Gonzalez (Bogotá, 20 December 1964) is a Colombian lawyer, is the youngest of five children of Rojas González home, he studied jurisprudence at the University of Rosario. Discussion was chief of Ingrid Betancourt and beside her was kidnapped by the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia, FARC and named Betancourt's vice presidential running mate for the 2002 presidential election while in captivity by a decision of the political party he belonged. The liberation moment!

Bacatá??

Yes, Bogotá's real name was Bacatá, when Gonzalo Jimenez de Quesada conquered it. 'Bacatá' was an indian name but it changed with time to 'Bogotá'.

European settlement of Bogotá began when Gonzalo Jiménez de Quesada, the Knight of El Dorado, conquered Bacatá, the capital of the Chibcha Indians. On the site he founded the settlement of Santa Fe de Bacatá. The Spanish settlers soon corrupted the name to Bogotá. An audencia was established to rule the new colony of New Granada. The audencia was a tribunal that had both administrative and judicial powers over the colony, but was subordinate to the viceroy of Peru.

As the settlement grew over the years, it maintained a large degree of independence due to difficulties of travel between Lima and Bogotá. In order to influence more control over the colony, Spain established a new viceroyalty, New Granada, and Bogotá became the capital.

So, this is interesting!

This is one of the pictures taked in the top of the Colpatria Tower. In the picture you see some green squares, well they are the tents of the " Mercado de pulgas " and in one extreme there is the Modern art museum.

And here's a little video, very short, of how it looks :D

Is the tallest in Colombia!!!!! And the second one n al South America!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Torre_Colpatria

And we visited the museum!

Yes, the modern art museum!

In the Modern art museum, like me,
you would take a big surprise. I thought that in this museum I would find amazing paints, but I found some photos, and some ridiculous drawings in pen. I fell disapointment about this small museum.
After this route, I went to the Colpatria Tower to take
some photos.

Conclusion: BAD.

INTERVIEW
Kristen is a fabulous person and we really appreciated her time. Here’s what she had to tell us:
Q: Since the Nylon interview came out, do you feel like you’re playing with fire when you talk about the Twilight fans?
KRISTEN STEWART: No, because I love the Twilight fans. I have literally never said anything remotely negative about them. You have to stay away from certain key words that can be twisted into a negative connotation, like the word ‘psychotic’ apparently is really bad. I don’t understand why. I mean, I feel like it’s a really humble position to take that it’s not normal to find yourself in a situation where there are 5,000 screaming girls and you’re literally like fodder. I feel like that’s not normal and it’s not something I should just say, “Oh yeah, it’s really cool. I love ‘em.” I feel like everything that I said in that Nylon interview, if you actually read the whole thing, was very honest and genuine and talking about something that I am so immersed in and have absolutely no control over and I’m just trying to stay honest and true to something that I care about. Yeah, that’s it.
Q: Well allow me to take you in the proper context. When do you start shooting the next installment of the Twilight saga, New Moon?
KRISTEN STEWART: Very soon. In a couple weeks. March 23rd I think is the first official day of shooting.
Q: Are you excited about the next one? Is there a part of it you’re looking most forward to shooting?
KRISTEN STEWART: Yeah. I mean, it’s interesting. It’s a completely different story. It’s like it entirely undermines the first. Edward is gone and, for me, that was the whole story. It’s hard for me to get past like… I don’t know how Bella is going to deal with that. She matures a lot. It’s a much more painful story than the first one. It’s actually quite devastating. It’s a smaller scale as well. She’s very solitary for quite a while so that will be interesting. I’m excited about that.
Be sure to check back later today for our exciting full interview with Kristen to learn all about her new movie, “The Cake Eaters,” which opens in theaters on March 13th.

News news! Economy!

The year 2009 was a year of having a decreasing behavior in economics, this has generated a variety of reasons, a: politics in monetary and phyisical at the beginning 2010. B: International economic crisis.
From 2002 to 2006 Colombia has entered into a growth cycle of the economy due to favorable international conditions which allowed Colombian economy to perform well in its trade balance, resulting from increased ionternational demand for primary products which due to the increase in the quantity demanded resultes in an increase in prices of raw material globally. Colombia is therefore economically benefit to the extent that increased both the quantity and the price of their exports achieved a good rate of economic growth.
